Camera Exposure supplies tips, techniques, and diagrams that make an immediate difference in the way you expose your image. Rather, Shane Hurlbut, ASC encourages both the exploration of technical aspects of exposing an image and the importance of competence with the tools used in determining exposure. This course assists you in building a foundation so you can make informed creative decisions in your storytelling.
Shane cracks open the playbook to help you understand his methodology behind testing film stocks and new digital cameras for projects. These tests reveal how far you can push the over and under exposure of your camera platform and how to train your eye without the use of waveforms, histograms, and other devices. You can expect to learn about dynamic range, exposure for different formats, how to perform camera tests, and lighting for 2K versus 4K. In addition, you’ll discover how to use a light meter and color meter and their relevance in digital filmmaking. Also included are podcasts with Shane where he discusses various camera technologies and how to elevate your visual style.

Director of photography Shane Hurlbut, ASC works at the forefront of cinema as a storyteller, innovator and discerning collaborator, who brings more than three decades of experience to his art. He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers, the International Cinematographers Guild/Local 600, and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
