How to Light Night Exteriors w/ Gray Tones: Part 1
INCLUDED IN THIS LESSON: 15 Minutes of Video, In-Depth Written Breakdown, Topdown Lighting Diagram –Supplied w/English Subtitles
IN THIS LESSON YOU WILL LEARN: What is silver moonlight? This is what I feel is what true moonlight looks like, it has this gray silver quality to it, it is not blue but silver. IN this lesson I go into how I use tungsten lights to create this mood and tone like I did on Terminator: Salvation and other films I have shot. Once you go tungsten for moon light you never go back. What color temp do you set your camera at to achieve this look, what specific tungsten lights do you use, what fill color tones do you use and what are their color temps? All these questions and many more will be answered in this 2 part series on Gray Moonlight.
This lesson is about the build, positioning your back light first when you light night exteriors. This technique will increase your speed and gain depth immediately in your projects. Smoke is another powerful tool to use to separate your characters out of the darkness. Get in there and see what I am talking about.
