In this course Shane Hurlbut, ASC demonstrates that a frame is more than just a picture. Students will learn how to choose lenses, build a color palette, how to use lighting tools and reference materials to build their visual landscape for any project. Shane goes into detailed composition rules and examples on how to use and customize classic shots to make them unique and impactful.
What makes a good frame or a bad one? How do you find your compositional voice? Learn classic framing techniques which grounds the story and characters and why subtle composition showcases the art of storytelling. Shane shares his schematics and behind the scenes footage from his features as examples of how he uses camera placement, depth, texture, color, contrast and other techniques. This course is designed to push you creatively and help you find inspiration from not always following the rules.
