We deliver professional online filmmaking education to produce world class filmmakers

Welcome to Hurlbut Academy – a huge interactive library of professional online educational filmmaking video lessons and courses led by renowned cinematographer Shane Hurlbut ASC with over 30 years of industry experience and dozens of feature films.

We believe in elevating the craft of filmmaking for everyone through professional filmmaking lessons and courses.

Whether you are a low budget filmmaker or are shooting multi-million dollar features, whether you are a director, cinematographer, camera operator, gaffer or DIT, if you’re a passionate filmmaker we will provide the filmmaking resources to help you to shine.

We invest more in our productions than any other online education platform because our productions are our hallmark and we want our platform to be the definition of cinematography and professional filmmaking.

Our lessons are designed to not only be educational, but also to be entertaining. We want to inspire filmmakers as well as teach them the professional filmmaking process step by step.

We educate to the most advanced level possible to produce world class filmmakers.

Being a filmmaker isn’t easy. It’s not a career, it’s a lifestyle. It’s not something you are interested in, it’s something you are obsessed with. That passion and that drive exists in everything that we do.

Committed to providing the best in online film education
